THOUGHTFULLY RESTORED Dorset House was constructed in 1840 of cedar timbers atop a solid double Ganaraska river rock foundation by Cornish merchant, member of the newly formed Port Hope government, and owner of local carriage & furniture manufacturer, Willam Barrett. Renewed from the inside out it has been completely rewired, reconfigured, re-plumbed, painted & finished.  An impressive 16 foot wide gracious double staircase and 50 foot long spectacular restored wrought-iron Victorian verandah is flanked by lush gardens, Dorset House presides over the flowering crabapple trees of private town parkland, and the gracious residences of John Street. The building is truly exceptional.
